“Since Juneteenth Became Official, the 4th of July Ain’t Giving What It Used To… But I’ll Still Show Up for the Cookout πŸ˜‚πŸŽ‡πŸ—”

Let me be honest for a second…

Ever since Juneteenth got its well-deserved spotlight as a federal holiday, the 4th of July just… lost a little flavor. I mean, once you learn the truth—that Black folks weren’t even technically free in 1776—it’s hard to get hype about a holiday that didn’t include us from the jump. πŸ’…πŸΎ

Now don’t get it twisted—I’m still gonna show up with my Tupperware and slide into someone’s backyard if they invite me. A plate is a plate, and I’m not about to miss out on somebody’s legendary ribs, Aunt Cheryl’s mac and cheese, or that mystery punch that sneaks up on you. But as far as deep patriotic pride? Chile, that’s reserved for Juneteenth now.

Juneteenth is ours. The culture, the freedom, the real celebration. It’s cookouts with soul, music with meaning, and vibes that don’t need a flag to feel powerful. The 4th of July? It’s starting to feel like the side dish—not the main course.

So yes, if you text me on the 4th saying "come through," I’m pulling up. But not because I’m celebrating independence—I’m just not turning down free food and fireworks. πŸ˜…

Let’s keep it real: Does the 4th still matter to you like it used to? Or has Juneteenth officially taken the crown?

Drop your thoughts below. And pass the potato salad while you’re at it. ✊🏾🍽️πŸ’₯
