BET Soul Train Awards Takes Over Chicago! Free Music, Art, Giveaways & a Whole Lot of Soul — But Did You Miss the Writing

🎀 Chicago, You Did That! I Had a Fabulous Time at BET Soul Train's FREE Soul in the City Celebration! Music, Free Gifts & Good Vibes! πŸ”₯πŸ’ƒπŸΎ
Chicago, let me tell you something! When I heard FREE admission, FREE giveaways, and MUSIC, I said, "Now THIS is my kind of party!" πŸ˜‚
And guess what? I went, I enjoyed myself, I got some free stuff, and I had a GREAT TIME!
On Wednesday, November 4, 2026, I attended Soul in the City, a special celebration honoring the BET Soul Train Awards at the beautiful Chicago Cultural Center.
And let me tell you, Chicago showed up with the soul!
Now, you know I love music, entertainment, a good celebration, and anything that doesn't require me to empty my wallet!
But this wasn't just about getting something free. It was about enjoying the music, appreciating the culture, and having a wonderful afternoon.
And that's exactly what I did!
🎢 The Music Had Me Feeling GOOD!
Let's talk about the MUSIC!
One thing about me, I love good music. Give me some R&B, soul, funk, disco, or something with a good beat, and I'm happy.
And the music was one of my favorite parts of this celebration.
There is something special about being around people who appreciate music and culture.
You don't always need a big expensive concert, a VIP section, or a celebrity standing onstage charging $200 for a ticket.
Sometimes all you need is good music, a nice atmosphere, and people enjoying themselves.
And that's what made this event enjoyable for me.
I was there to have fun, not to complain about everything!
Now, that's a change from some of these reality television shows I review! πŸ˜‚
Nobody needed to throw a drink, flip a table, or call a reunion host.
We were there for the SOUL!
🎁 And Yes, I Got Some FREE Stuff!
Now, let's get to another important part of my afternoon.
THE FREE STUFF!
Yes, I got some giveaways, and I was happy about it!
Listen, in today's economy, when somebody says something is free, you better believe I'm paying attention.
Because everything costs money these days.
You go to the grocery store, and $20 disappears before you even reach the checkout.
You go out for entertainment, and suddenly you're spending money on tickets, food, transportation, and everything else.
So attending a free cultural celebration and coming home with some goodies?
That's a WIN in my book!
And no, I'm not ashamed to say I enjoy getting free stuff.
Who doesn't?
Some people act like they're too sophisticated to accept a giveaway.
Well, you can leave yours on the table. Somebody will appreciate it! πŸ˜‚
But seriously, I appreciated the generosity and the opportunity to participate in something enjoyable without paying admission.
πŸ›️ Chicago Cultural Center Was the Perfect Location
The event took place at the Chicago Cultural Center, located at 78 E. Washington Street, in Preston Bradley Hall.
And what a beautiful place to celebrate music and culture!
Chicago has so much history, especially when it comes to Black entertainment.
Let's not forget that the original Soul Train television program started right here in Chicago under the legendary Don Cornelius.
That's something worth celebrating!
Soul Train gave generations of Black performers, dancers, and entertainers a national platform.
It wasn't just a television show.
It was fashion, music, hairstyles, dancing, creativity, and Black excellence all rolled into one.
So having a celebration connected to the BET Soul Train Awards in Chicago felt appropriate.
And I was happy to be part of it.
πŸ˜‚ Now, Where Was the Drama?
You know I usually write about reality television, celebrity gossip, messy relationships, and people acting like they've lost their minds.
But this time?
I don't have a big scandal to report!
No Housewives screaming across a dinner table.
No reality star arguing over who was invited to a birthday party.
No somebody claiming they own the entire city of Chicago because they rented a luxury apartment!
Just me having a wonderful afternoon enjoying the music and the atmosphere.
And you know what?
Sometimes that's enough!
Not everything needs to be dramatic.
Although I will say this: the biggest drama of the afternoon might have been how happy I was to get something for FREE! πŸ˜‚
❤️ We Need More FREE Events Like This in Chicago!
One thing this experience reminded me of is how important free community events really are.
Everybody doesn't have hundreds of dollars to spend on entertainment.
Some people live on fixed incomes. Others have families, bills, rent, groceries, and other responsibilities.
But that doesn't mean people shouldn't have opportunities to enjoy life.
That's why I appreciate events like Soul in the City.
You can get out of the house, listen to music, experience something different, and enjoy yourself without spending a fortune.
And sometimes getting out and enjoying life is exactly what you need.
I would love to see Chicago organize more free celebrations featuring R&B, Motown, jazz, gospel, disco, house music, and local talent.
Chicago has a tremendous musical legacy.
Let's celebrate it!
And while we're at it, bring back some of that old-school Soul Train energy!
Give us a dance floor, some great DJs, and a Soul Train line.
Because I still believe people want to dance and have a good time!
⭐ My Personal Review: A Wonderful Afternoon!

My Rating: 10/10! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I'm giving my experience a perfect score because I genuinely enjoyed myself.
The music was great, I got some free stuff, and most importantly, I had a good time.
I didn't attend expecting everything to be perfect.
I went because I wanted to enjoy a celebration of music and culture.
And I left feeling happy that I attended.
Sometimes we spend so much time thinking about what we don't have, what we want to accomplish, and what we need to do next that we forget to enjoy the moment.
This was one of those moments when I could simply go out and have fun.
No pressure. No big expense. Just a nice afternoon in Chicago.
And I appreciate that!
🎀 Final Thoughts: Thank You, Chicago!
I want to thank the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events and everyone involved in putting together Soul in the City.
I had a wonderful time!
The music, the atmosphere, the giveaways, and the opportunity to celebrate the Soul Train legacy made this an experience worth sharing.
And here's something I want everybody to remember:
You don't have to be rich to enjoy life. You don't have to spend hundreds of dollars to have fun. Sometimes the best experiences are FREE!
I'm glad I went.
I'm glad I got out of the house.
And yes, I'm glad I got my free stuff! πŸ˜‚
Chicago, keep these events coming!
Because when you bring the music, the culture, the good vibes, and the giveaways, you better believe I'll be interested!
Love, Peace, and SOUL! 🎢❤️
πŸ’¬ LET'S TALK ABOUT IT!
