I've Written Books, Made Music, and Created Videos — Where's My Breakthrough?
*By Spencer Whitelow | November 2026*
**I've written books. I've made music. I've created YouTube videos. I've started blogs. I've put my creativity out into the world. So let me ask one simple question: WHERE IS MY BREAKTHROUGH?**
Because at this point, I'm starting to wonder if success has my address, my phone number, or even knows I exist! π
Now, don't get me wrong. I'm grateful for everything I've accomplished. But sometimes you sit back, look at all the work you've done, check your bank account, and ask yourself, "What exactly is going on here?"
I'm creating content, writing stories, recording music, and promoting my projects. Meanwhile, my bank account is sitting there looking at me like, "And what would you like me to do with all this creativity?"
Lord, can we turn some of these ideas into deposits?
## I've Written Books, but Where Are the Readers?
Let's start with my books.
I've spent countless hours coming up with titles, developing stories, writing chapters, editing manuscripts, creating covers, and publishing ebooks.
Writing a book isn't as easy as some people think.
You have to come up with an idea, develop it, organize your thoughts, and actually finish the project. Then comes the publishing process.
And after all that work, you still have to convince somebody to buy it!
That's where things get interesting.
You publish your book, share the link, promote it on social media, and wait for the sales to start rolling in.
You check your dashboard.
Nothing.
You check it again.
Still nothing.
You refresh the page like you're waiting for the winning lottery numbers.
Maybe somebody bought a copy while I was sleeping?
Nope!
And don't let somebody tell you, "Congratulations! I'm going to support your book!"
Three months later, you're still waiting for that support.
But here's something I've learned: **Just because people aren't buying my books today doesn't mean my writing has no value.**
Maybe I need to reach a different audience. Maybe I need better marketing. Maybe I need to spend more time promoting the books I've already written instead of constantly creating new ones.
One thing I know for sure is that I'm not going to stop writing just because the sales aren't where I want them to be.
## YouTube: Thousands of Views, but Where's the Money?
Now let's talk about YouTube.
I've been creating videos for years. I've uploaded content, covered reality television, discussed entertainment news, and shared my opinions about celebrities and pop culture.
I've built an audience, and my videos have received views.
But here's the part that gets frustrating.
You can spend hours working on a video, creating a title, writing a description, editing, and uploading it.
Then you wait.
Ten views.
Twenty views.
Maybe fifty.
Meanwhile, somebody uploads a video about what they ate for breakfast and gets 100,000 views!
Excuse me?
Are we reviewing scrambled eggs now? Because I can talk about breakfast too!
And then there's the advice.
Everybody on YouTube seems to know how to become successful.
"Post every day!"
"Post three times a week!"
"Make longer videos!"
"Make shorter videos!"
"Use AI!"
"Don't use AI!"
"Change your thumbnails!"
"Find a niche!"
By the time you finish listening to everybody, you don't even know what kind of channel you're supposed to have anymore.
Here's what I've realized: **I need to stop letting everybody else's advice control my creative journey.**
I can learn from successful creators without trying to become them.
My channel has its own personality, audience, and purpose.
And while I want to make money from YouTube, I also want to enjoy creating videos.
Because if creating content becomes nothing but stress, what's the point?
## Now I'm Making Music Too!
As if writing books and creating YouTube videos weren't enough, I decided to explore music.
Yes, music!
I've been creating songs under my VibeX name, experimenting with different sounds, developing ideas, and thinking about future releases.
Music gives me another way to express myself.
Sometimes I want to tell a story through a book. Sometimes I want to talk about something in a video. And sometimes I want to turn those feelings into a song.
But the music business comes with another set of challenges.
Getting people to listen is one thing.
Getting people to return, share your music, and support your projects is another.
And let's not even get started on streaming revenue.
You can dream about a hit record, but first you need listeners!
I'm not expecting to become an overnight superstar. I understand that building an audience takes time.
But I would love to see some of these creative projects start producing real results.
I don't need a mansion tomorrow.
Can we start with a few consistent sales, some music streams, and a YouTube channel that earns money?
Is that asking too much?
## Social Media Will Humble You!
Let me tell you something about social media.
People will watch your content, like your posts, laugh at your jokes, and tell you how talented you are.
But getting those same people to click a link, subscribe, purchase a book, or listen to a song?
Now everybody is busy!
You can post something funny and get attention.
Then you post your business.
Silence.
Suddenly, the entire internet has gone on vacation.
But I've also learned that followers aren't automatically customers.
Some people follow you because they enjoy your personality. Others like your entertainment commentary. Some may have no interest in buying books or listening to music.
And that's okay.
My job is to find the people who actually want what I'm creating.
Instead of trying to sell everything to everybody, I need to understand who my audience is and what they're looking for.
That's something I'm still learning.
## Maybe I'm Doing Too Much at Once
Here's where I have to be honest with myself.
I have a lot of creative interests.
Books.
Music.
YouTube.
Blogging.
Social media.
Business ideas.
And sometimes I want all of them to become successful at the same time.
But maybe that's part of my problem.
I'm spreading my attention across so many projects that I'm not always giving one project enough time to grow.
One day I'm promoting an ebook.
The next day I'm thinking about a new song.
Then I'm working on a YouTube video.
Before I know it, I've started another project!
My creativity is moving faster than my marketing strategy.
And while having multiple interests is wonderful, I also need organization, consistency, and a plan.
Maybe my next breakthrough won't come from creating ten new things.
Maybe it'll come from taking one thing I've already created and giving it the attention it deserves.
That's something worth thinking about.
## I'm Manifesting Success, but I Also Need a Plan
I believe in dreaming big.
I believe in speaking positive things over my life.
I believe in imagining a future where my books are selling, my music is reaching listeners, and my YouTube channel is growing.
But I've also learned that manifesting success doesn't mean sitting around waiting for money to magically appear.
I need to take action.
That means looking at what's working, what isn't working, and what I can improve.
Maybe I need to focus on promoting my best books instead of publishing something new every week.
Maybe I need to study which YouTube videos people actually watch and create more content around those topics.
Maybe I need to build a small but loyal audience for my music instead of worrying about becoming famous.
And maybe I need to celebrate small victories instead of comparing my journey to people who are already successful.
Because the truth is, I don't know when my breakthrough will happen.
But I can make better decisions that give my work a stronger chance.
## The Part Nobody Talks About: Creating While Struggling Financially
Let's discuss something that doesn't get enough attention.
Trying to build a creative business when you don't have much money is challenging.
People love telling you to invest in yourself.
Buy this course.
Purchase that software.
Pay for advertising.
Upgrade your equipment.
Hire somebody to promote your work.
Okay, but with what money?
Some of us are trying to build businesses while also paying rent, buying groceries, covering transportation, and handling everyday expenses.
I can't spend money I don't have just because somebody on social media says that's the secret to success.
So I have to be creative with my resources.
Free marketing tools.
Social media promotion.
Blog posts.
YouTube videos.
Email lists.
Collaborations.
Learning new skills without spending a fortune.
It may take longer, but that doesn't mean it's impossible.
And I refuse to believe that only people with money deserve the opportunity to become successful.
## I Don't Want to Be Famous Just to Be Famous
Let me explain something.
I enjoy entertainment, creativity, music, and storytelling.
But my biggest dream isn't necessarily to become a celebrity.
I want financial stability.
I want to pay my bills without worrying.
I want to travel.
I want a comfortable home.
I want to enjoy dinner at a nice restaurant without checking my account five times.
I want to experience romance, laughter, friendships, and new adventures.
I want to wake up excited about life instead of worrying about what bill is due next.
If my books, music, videos, and blogs can help me build that kind of life, then that's the success I'm looking for.
Of course, if somebody wants to send me a publishing deal or a nice music contract, I'm willing to read it!
Just make sure the paperwork is right!
## What If My Breakthrough Looks Different Than I Imagined?
Sometimes we imagine success happening in one dramatic moment.
A video goes viral.
A book becomes a bestseller.
A song takes off.
Suddenly, everybody knows your name.
But what if success happens gradually?
What if one reader discovers my book and recommends it to somebody else?
What if one YouTube video brings in new subscribers who continue watching?
What if one person hears my music and becomes a loyal listener?
What if my breakthrough isn't one big event but a series of small opportunities that eventually change my financial situation?
I have to remain open to that possibility.
Because sometimes we're so busy waiting for something spectacular that we overlook the progress happening right in front of us.
## I'm Not Giving Up, but I Am Changing My Approach
I don't want to spend another year doing the exact same things and wondering why I'm getting the exact same results.
Something has to change.
Not my creativity.
Not my dreams.
My strategy.
I want to become more intentional about what I create, how I promote it, and where I spend my time.
I also want to stop putting so much pressure on myself.
Every book doesn't have to become a bestseller.
Every song doesn't have to become a hit.
Every YouTube video doesn't have to go viral.
But I do want my work to have a purpose.
And I want to see measurable progress.
That means setting realistic goals, tracking my results, and making adjustments when something isn't working.
I'm learning that being creative and running a successful business are two different skills.
I already know I love creating.
Now I need to keep learning how to turn that creativity into sustainable income.
## Final Thoughts: Dear Breakthrough, I'm Ready When You Are!
I've written books.
I've made music.
I've created videos.
I've started blogs.
I've spent time learning, experimenting, and putting my ideas into the world.
And yes, sometimes I get frustrated.
Sometimes I wonder why things aren't moving faster.
Sometimes I look at other creators and ask myself what they're doing differently.
But I also remind myself that I have something valuable: experience, creativity, determination, and a willingness to keep learning.
I'm not going to pretend everything is wonderful when the money isn't coming in.
I'm not going to act like getting a few views automatically pays the bills.
And I'm certainly not going to tell people that success is guaranteed just because they believe in themselves.
It takes work, planning, patience, opportunity, and sometimes a little luck.
But I'm still here.
Still writing.
Still creating.
Still learning.
Still dreaming.
And I'm not finished.
**My breakthrough hasn't happened the way I imagined, but that doesn't mean my story is over.**
Now, if the universe would like to send a few book sales, some music listeners, a monetized YouTube channel, and a nice financial blessing my way, I certainly wouldn't complain!
Because I've got dreams to live, places to visit, and bills that are not interested in hearing another motivational speech! π
