🎉 Birthday Road Trip to Wine Country: Southfield to St. Julian 🍷🚗

Let me tell y’all about this mini birthday escape I took—because even though I’m not a big fan of traveling during the summer (yes, I said it!), this trip ended up being everything I didn’t know I needed.

So, on June 18, I packed up for a quick 3-day road trip with two close friends. Destination? Southfield, MI and the charming wine country tucked away in Michigan. Our main stop was St. Julian Winery, and baby, if you've never been—you’re missing out!

🍷 St. Julian Vibes

We toured St. Julian, one of Michigan’s oldest and most respected wineries, and yes, the wine was giving. Sweet reds, fruity whites, and that laid-back Midwest hospitality made it all taste even better. It felt like something out of a Pinterest dream—rustic, chill, and just the right amount of bougie.

🧊 Hotel Drama

Now listen. The hotel? FREEZING. I mean, it felt like we were staying inside a refrigerator. I legit had to layer up just to go to bed. Cute hotel, but next time I’m packing a blanket and a hoodie.

💸 The Breakdown

This was a budget-friendly road trip, which I loved. Three people, $130 each for the hotel and activities. We each brought our own spending money, which gave us some freedom to sip wine and grab little souvenirs without stressing the bank account.

👑 A Burger King Birthday

Forget the fancy sit-down. My birthday lunch was at Burger King, and I loved every bite of it. Sometimes it’s not about the five-star restaurant—it’s about the moment, the laughs, and the people you're with. And chile, that Whopper hit the spot like it was cooked by Gordon Ramsay himself.

🍃 Final Thoughts

Even though summer travel isn’t my thing (I’m more of a fall/winter traveler—give me cool weather and empty tourist spots), this trip was a beautiful exception. Everything was DC fresh—that means good vibes, good friends, and memories I’ll hold onto. Would I do it again? Maybe… just with a heated blanket next time.
